Frequently asked questions

The term MOD is the ability to modify a watch. Seiko is a Japanese brand, very popular with fans of customization. Almost all parts and other mechanisms of the watch are available for purchase from Seiko or Namoki for example (hands, bezel, crown...)

What has made the strength of Seiko and increases the popularity of mods is the fact that they offer a great customization of their watches, while facilitating the process of creation, thanks to its wide choice of available parts. Thus, we can take watches like the Seiko Prospex Diver, SKX, Seiko 5 Sports or even SNXJ89 as well as the new Seiko 5 GMT SSK001, SSK003, SSK005 and modify them according to your tastes, your passion and your desires of the moment.

This activity is a passion.
I am very knowledgeable about parts compatibility. Watchmakers and jewelers (most anyway) probably don't spend the time I spend looking at hundreds and hundreds of mods to learn about possible modifications and combinations.
I am very reactive to give you the answers to your questions.
I bring a maximum of advice thanks to my experience.
In addition, I offer the water resistance test as well as the adjustment of the movement with timegrapher for each watch.

No, you just have to send me your request with a maximum of details and if possible pictures.
Then I tell you the feasibility of your project.
I order all the parts, you don't have to do anything.

The service of a full custom watch (watch assembled from spare parts only) includes :
  • the water resistant test
  • adjustment of the movement with timegrapher
  • the black BBmod aluminium box
  • a tool that allows the bracelet to be removed and replaced.
  • a second tool to remove and replace the links (only for watches with steel bracelet)
  • a BBmod microfiber cloth

The SRPD have a better caliber (4R36), with the possibility to wind it manually as well as the stop-second. They are waterproof to 100m (against 200m for the SKX) because the crown is not screwed.
The Caseback allows to see the movement on the SRPD while it is solid on the SKX.

For the dimensions of the two models they are almost identical, all the parts of SKX are compatible on the new SRPD except the crown. On the other hand, the original straps are not compatible between the two models.

A modified Seiko 5 watch is called a Seiko 5 Mod.

Here is a list of parts suppliers I enjoy working with:

I also have a lot of personal contacts and suppliers who may have certain parts.

Unfortunately I don't have the time to do that, I only proceed by sending.

I have a lot of contacts to get original Seiko dials but they are very requested, expensive, for some rare and for others impossible to have in spare part without buying the watch itself and so get this dial. If after having tried everything we can't get the dial you want, I will propose you coherent alternatives.

The full custom watches I make come with a 3-year warranty, but I'm not responsible for any damage that may occur to the watch. I simply have no way of knowing whether the wearer of the watch made sure that the crown was screwed in before swimming with it, that he didn't change the date or the day during the death zone (see instructions)... I'll fix what I did by mistake, but it's highly unlikely.

Yes, I work with a company that can handle that.

The payment is done directly at the order by card (I send you a link when you pay) or by bank transfer. It is also possible to pay by paypal but you will have to add 4% to the total price.

It is also possible to pay in 2 times, 50% at the order and 50% just before I send the watch (usually 6 weeks after the order)
